By joining Mackichan Hall you will become a part of the community which is unique for several reasons. You will find here a variety of students, speaking different languages and coming from different parts of India and around the world. In spite of differences you will find here a striking similarity of purpose that is to acquire good education and to mature into responsible citizens of this world. Apart from the knowledge that you will gain in college during lectures and practicals, your experience in this community – living here will be most rewarding and educative. You shall stay together as a community and therefore will be obliged to show consideration for others. Therefore in the interest of all residents it will be necessary to conform to certain requirements.

 


Admission Requirements

  • Postgraduate students are not admitted to the hostels.
  • Full fees for the term are to be paid on admission by the date indicated; hostel fees once paid will not be refunded.
  • Mackichan Hall has its own dining club. Dining in the hostel mess is compulsory. Each resident has to pay a mess deposit on joining the mess. This deposit is refundable in addition, a fee for games and other cultural activities would also be charged. The mess bill should be paid by the 12th of each month.
  • Students should bring their local guardian or parents at the time of admission.
  • Students can come into their residents only one day prior to the opening of the college term, fees cover residence only till the end of the official college term. Thereafter vacation charges will be applicable.
  • Readmission in the next term is not automatic it depends on your, Attendance in college, performance in college and behavior in college and hostel.


General Requirements

  • At all times please see that no inconvenience or disturbance is caused to other residents.
  • In order to ensure that everyone gets adequate time for private study without any disturbance, a study period is observed from 9.30 p.m. onwards. Therefore students should be in their own rooms and silence should be maintained.
  • It is necessary for you to be in the hostel by 9.30 p.m. everyday. However if you wish to come late to the hostel it is allowed only on Saturdays and Sunday night latest by 12.00 a.m.
  • Regular attendance in the college and consistent academic progress is an important requirement and if not taken seriously may involve cancellation of admission, even in the middle of the term.
  • You are expected to take part in all the hostel activities which are oragnised throughout the term.
  • Volume of your personal music system should be kept low at all times.
  • You should take special care of your valuables. It is also necessary that you lock your door and switch off the light s whenever you leave your room. Duplicate key should be handed over to the warden before occupying the room.
  • Health and cleanliness is very important. Care should be taken to see that the hostel and its surroundings are kept clean. Avoid throwing litter in corridors, staircases etc. Also your room should be kept clean and tidy. If you fall ill please inform the warden immediately. Hostel Doctor is available 24 hours.
  • Smoking and consumption of alcoholic drinks in any form is strictly forbidden if caught will result in termination of admission.
  • Your visitors are most welcome. Visitors room is open between 4.00 to 8.00 p.m. Your visitors are forbidden to visit your rooms.
  • The games facilities will be restricted during college working hours for obvious reasons. The residents of the hostel alone are entitled to use the games facilities between 4.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. only.
  • Hostel residents are not permitted to keep scooters, motorcycles or cars in campus.
